Our Church Architect, John Christophers, has completed the alteration and enlargement of his 1840 semi-detached home in Balsall Heath. It is the first retrofit using an existing building in the UK to achieve zero carbon status. The house, at 103 Tindal Street, B12 9QU, will be open to the public on Palm Sunday, 28 March, from 1.30 pm until 4.30 pm. All visitors are welcome!
John Christophers says, "We wanted to inspire others - churches, housing associations, individuals - about what's possible: rather than consuming energy, the house actually generates it. And we hope the design shows that 'green' does not have to be dull! We have been quite overwhelmed with the positive response."
